coLab
Welcome to coLab!
coLab is a community of practitioners – including teachers, edtech specialists, and education leaders – eager to engage in various projects alongside edtech providers through paid online activities and in-person events.
Edtech innovation requires product developers to collaborate with and gather feedback from education practitioners – but connecting the right practitioners with the right companies can be challenging. ISTE+ASCD coLab addresses this challenge head on.
Edtech Needs You
Are you an ISTE+ASCD member curious about the future of edtech? Are you an education practitioner interested in adding your voice to make edtech better?

Frequently Asked Questions
The coLab team will review your information and determine if you are eligible to participate. After that you will receive a welcome email. As opportunities arise, you’ll be invited to participate based on the criteria of each activity.
No! The coLab team will never share your information without your explicit consent. Oftentimes, our coLab partners (like edtech companies) only need to know your first name and get no other information about you. We serve as a liaison between you and the product provider, including handling compensation for your time. Your information stays with us.
Yes! We pay a minimum of $75/hr (or $100 for a 90-minute focus group). We value your time and expertise and aim to compensate you accordingly.
We love working with new partners interested in doing edtech R&D. Here’s what you can expect from working with coLab:
Introductory call – Fill out the form above and someone from the ISTE Research & Development team will reach out to you to schedule a chat.
Project setup – If coLab is a good fit for your R&D needs, then we’ll work together to clarify project goals, define the right participant group, and coordinate the needed activities.
Project recruitment – The ISTE R&D team will coordinate project recruitment. By screening our roster and carefully targeting the right practitioners for each project, we make sure that you get access to exactly the people you want to learn from.
Project wrap up – After you complete your project, whether it’s a survey, focus group, or other activity, we handle participant compensation. We firmly believe that education practitioners are experts in their own fields, and so we aim to compensate them at a minimum of about $75 per hour.
