Differentiated Instruction

Differentiated instruction is a research-validated teaching approach that supports educators in connecting learning to individual students. As developed by renowned educator Carol Ann Tomlinson and others, this method is built on authentic relationship-building, engaging curriculum, and responsive and flexible instructional design. It helps educators better understand students' needs and interests and adjust content and learning activities accordingly. Differentiated instruction is ultimately about "teaching up"—setting high standards for all students and supporting their capacity to do engaging and meaningful academic work.
